Walkers Shortbread Fingers, 5.3-oz. Boxes (Count of 6): Traditional and Simple Pure Butter Shortbread Cookies from the Scottish Highlands, Made with Quality Ingredients, Free from Artificial Flavors

BRAND STORY The Walkers story traces back over a century to 1898, when a 21-year-old Joseph Walker opened a bakery in the Scottish Highlands, with a £50 loan and the dream of crafting the world's finest shortbread. In that first year, Joseph dedicated every spare moment to perfecting his recipe, and his efforts paid off as his renowned shortbread gained popularity and demand.

Eager to expand, Joseph moved to a larger shop in Aberlour, a Speyside village, and invested in a horse and cart to broaden his delivery reach. During the 1930s, the business grew alongside Joseph's family, as his sons James and Joseph joined the venture, bringing fresh ideas. By 1936, they had introduced cakes, confectionery, and the company's first delivery van, allowing Walkers' products to reach even more customers.

While some manufacturers opted for cheaper alternatives like margarine, Joseph remained committed to using only the finest butter, confident that customers appreciated the care and quality that went into Walkers' superior shortbread. This commitment endured even after Joseph's passing in 1954, as his sons continued to use his original recipe.

Demand soared, and the third generation of Walkers, including Joseph, James, and Marjorie, joined the family business by 1961. As the company expanded, they moved to a custom-built factory in 1975, which enabled them to develop new offerings like Chocolate Chip Shortbread and specialty cookies.

By the 1970s, Joseph's grandchildren had begun exporting Walkers' shortbread to over 60 countries, retaining the original recipe. This global success earned them three Queen's Awards for Export Achievement, the highest honor for British exporters.

Remaining connected to their customers, Walkers continued to test new products in Aberlour's village shop, ensuring the seal of approval from the local community. This unwavering focus on quality and traditional recipes has made Walkers the choice of the most discerning customers and retailers worldwide.

Today, the fourth generation of Walkers carries on the family legacy, proudly using only the finest ingredients, such as plump fruits, aromatic spices, real chocolate, and flavorful nuts, to create their classic pure butter shortbread and innovative new products. The Walkers brand continues to grow, fueled by the loyalty of customers who delight in the company's timeless tradition and exceptional quality.
